Socialism For Our Time: Freedom, Value, Transition.

This piece was the first extensive scholarly engagement with Martin Hägglund’s hugely influential book, This Life: Secular Faith and Spiritual Freedom. I engage with Hägglund’s book as a deepening of the concerns of his earlier work on Derrida, and further consider it in relation to debates in the history of socialist thought. The article, which has over 26,000 views, received a response from Hägglund himself in the Los Angeles Review of Books, and in pieces published in The Philosopher, Historical Materialism, and Hegel Bulletin.
