Immanence et transcendance dans le marxisme: Retour sur le débat Sartre / Lefort / Merleau-Ponty.

This article, written in French, focuses on a debate between Jean-Paul Sartre, Claude Lefort, and Maurice Merleau-Ponty over the politics of the French Communist Party and the actuality of Marxist philosophy in the post-war period. I interpret Merleau-Ponty’s reappraisal of Georg Lukács’ notion of praxis as offering a dialectical overcoming of the opposition between Sartre’s support for the party as an external force of political change and Lefort’s commitment to the purely immanent action of the proletariat.
